Our Theme Kit is NOT scary!!

2012 Sept/Oct Theme Kit

Happy Halloween fellow crafters!! It's Lisa, posting on my favorite holiday of the year!!  Hope you are enjoying this very fun holiday and that you are making memories worth scrapping!  I have been busy crafting with the October Theme kit and I must say,  it was a treat, not a trick, to scrap with it this month!  You may have seen my little witches hat in the gallery...
                       Theme Kit Witch Hat
To the paper mache hat from Michaels, I added a bit of tulle and black paint but the rest was all from the kit.from the doily, to the witch card, the die cuts, flowers, words, buttons, bling, paper...all of it!    I just love how dimensional it is and it is the perfect addition to my haunted lounge.  My circle cutter made easy work of this project, if you'd like a tutorial just let me know!

I also created this layout with the kit.  I added some of the new Heidi Swapp mist and some sewing, but the rest is all from the kit.  Even the glassine bag and washi tape!!  (I used the bat die cut as a mask for my misting)

There are still some kits available if you'd like to have one shipped with your November Kit, it's free to ship with your kit!  Here are the kit contents...it is SUCH a good value!

Just add a little paint

Or a lot! :) My weekly challenge came to me when I was in the middle of trying to map out my idea for this layout. I was moving the patterned paper all around the layout trying to figure out what was missing and why I kept feeling like it looked incomplete. I had the stamping done but just could not figure it out. It dawned on me that it needed some extra "color" or "pop" to drawl out the design I was going for. So I reached for my Yellow Adirondack acrylic paint dabber and just started dabbing away :) This layout was my end result...

If you ever feel like your layout is just not coming together because it's missing something, try a little paint on it. I think it adds so much more to my projects. I do like "white" space but for this layout I just felt it needed a little more color. Try this out on your next layout! I would love to see what you do!

Friday Fun - My Recent Pinterest "Finds" :)

There is something about the onset of fall that makes it feel like the "official launch" of holiday planning, decorating, and gift giving. I find myself this week busily adding new inspiration links to my Pinterest boards, and thought it would be fun to share with you some of my latest fall "pins" (clicking on any of the images below will take you directly to each link as well! ;))

Ok first up - check out these super CUTE pumpkin creations made out of....Baker's Twine!

Second, check out this adorable pumpkin tree...what a neat use of fall-themed patterned paper - LOVE!! :)

And the sweet simplicity of this fall-themed frame (and the versatility it additionally offers for decorating within any season) on your very own mantle - just gorgeous!

Or for those of you who prefer a lovely fall scrappy wall hanging ;) :

I am so loving this pumpkin created with book pages!

And these fabric pumpkins totally inspire me to want to sew!! Aren't the fabrics so rich and vibrant? They SCREAM fall! :)

And don't forget that scrapping and creating and decorating can really make you work up an appetite - how about some cookies to keep your motivation going? ;)

Of course the holidays can sometimes bring about those unwanted pounds too, so we can always keep it on the healthier side of things with this darling turkey veggie platter. ;)

So now that I've shared with you some of my recent finds, I want to see yours!! :) Please share with me some of your more recent pins - and they don't have to be limited to just fall! You can either comment here or over on the message board. :) I look forward to seeing some of YOUR new favorites! :)

Happy Friday all! :)

WOW Us Wednesday!

It's time for another WOW US Wednesday!  I love seeing all the eye candy in the gallery.  There are two layouts I saw from Amber aka "awindybird" that I really like.  I couldn't decide between the two so I'm posting them both!

I love how Amber captured her book reading stack that I'm sure we all have lying around somewhere.  The library pocket and card is PERFECT and her handwriting is so pretty.

This layout captured my eye because I love the color combination and the paper practically matches the dress!  I like the journaling around the circle and the swirls add interest and depth.

Great job, Amber and congratulations!

Monochromatic Color Challenge 10/22

Happy Monday!!

For my challenge this month I'd like you to create a monochromatic layout. If you look up the definition of monochromatic in the dictionary, you will find that it means one color or hue.  The October kit is perfect for this challenge as the colors of Webster's Pages "Park Drive" are so muted and beautiful.  Here is my example using the fabulous LRS October kit!

This layout is basically monochromatic although it does have a touch of pink/peach/green present in the stickers and ribbon.  Have fun ladies and don't forget to add your layout to the gallery and link a photo of it to the challenge thread so we can all admire your work!

Friday Fun - Photo Strips

My charming husband, Robert, found a new amazing app that I just LOVE!  It is called PocketBooth and it is available for iPhone, iPad, Android devices, Nokia devices and Windows phones.

Pocketbooth perfectly replicates the intimacy, spontaneity, and hilarity of a traditional photobooth. Take it to your next party and watch as your friends strike a pose.

Meticulously designed to emulate the experience of a 1950s-era Model 11 Photobooth, Pocketbooth is as beautiful to look at as it is fun to use.  Pocketbooth allows you to customize your photo strip from the number of photos to special effects, borders and more!  You can easily share your photo strip via Facebook, Twitter, email or save them to your phone.

We had a great time playing with the app at dinner the other night.  Here I am hamming it up with Griffin.

October DT Gallery Highlights!

The DT girls have been so busy creating such beautiful layouts this month...I know that I have loved this kit more than usual...the colors lend themselves so well to many different "themes"...and it seems the DT girls felt the same way!!!

First up, Nikki's beautiful "Perfect one" layout...I love the way she used the Pink Paislee circles and the way she framed her layout...her added touches of stamping with the bling in the middle just sets it all off perfectly!

Perfect One

AnnaMarie created this romantic layout for us...I just love how she framed the photos with the Pink Paislee circles and added her title to the doily...the peeks of layers out from the edges are so pretty!!

Love is all around you (October 2012 Kit)

Tammy let the paper do some of the work for her on her layout but what she added, the kraft tag, the leaves and flowers...the simple mat...STUNNING...I love the mixed font title, too!

You are my pick- October Kit

Karrie created this adorable layout for us...her embellie clusters are just perfection!  I love how the two title stickers add a "title" and journaling without taking away from the super cute photo.

Meg created this very meaningful layout of her family...I love the quilted papers, the mat of the doily and flowers and her journaling around the page...
Favorite Cousins

and lastly, one from me...I created a little mini book under the left photo...there are 20 photos on this layout!!! Lots of fussy cutting, too.

Friday Fun-- Rainy day pennys

It's finally here ladies!  The day we have all been waiting for! Not only is it Friday, it's Friday Fun day!!!!

So, because we all love to shop for scrap goodies, we must all save our pocket change to feed our addiction, right??!!

Well, I wanted to share with you all a cute little piggy bank I made from a recycled oatmeal container.   I used some old Dear Elsie paper that I happen to love, some old embellies, and a little tea dyed tag for my "Rainy day spending" label.

So, What do you keep your "Rainy day penny's" in?   Do you just leave them in a jar or do you have a special container that you made with your leftover supplies?    Please stop on by the forum and show us a glimpse of what you use for your "Rainy day" spending jar.

Happy Fun Friday!!!!

So that's it, use some layering on your cards!

I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

Make sure you share your cards in our LRS gallery.

Weekly challenge - 10/8

Happy Columbus day everyone!  Hope you are all having a wonderful, fun-filled, crisp Autumn weekend!

While working with the October kit I decided it was the perfect kit for those Autumn pictures or outdoor adventures you have hanging around.

This week I challenge you to make a layout with the following two things:
1) You need to include "Autumn" colors.
2) You need to have some kind of "Autumn" embellishment.
That's it, a quick and easy challenge to get you going this month!

Be sure to stop back over to the Forum and post up your layouts so that we can all leave you some love on your beautiful creations!

Happy Scrapping!

October Sketch Reveal

Happy October! AnnaMarie here with the October Sketch Reveal. :) I am grateful to be given permission by Valerie Salmon to showcase this lovely sketch from the GotSketch? blog - and this specific sketch is Sketch #143 on the blog. In choosing this sketch, I was especially drawn to the smaller photos, the strips of patterned paper and journaling, and the tiny embellishment clusters.

And here is my interpretation of the sketch using the BEAUTIFUL October Main Kit and its Embellishment, Ribbon, and Alpha Add-Ons! :)

I remained mostly true to the overall design of this sketch, but swapped out one of the smaller photos for a slightly bigger one. I also substituted the pendants in the upper corner with a small cluster of embellishments more cohesive with the floral and feminine feel of my page. :)

I hope you are as inspired by this sketch as I was :) - and I especially hope that you get a chance to play along with this month's Sketch Challenge! Please be sure to post to the LRS Gallery and the October Sketch Reveal Thread when you complete your project...and I can't wait to see who plays along this month! Happy Scrapping! :)
